LJ's been sending out notifications to the owners of inactive communities. I don't want this one to go under, so here's an update. (Even if these books are fading off the shelves of book retailers, they were still a very large part of my childhood. I don't want them or this community to disappear!)

It's also nice to know people are still making beautiful art out there.

Hello everyone! After trying to contact our (former) community admin a few times I submitted a ticket to LJ-Support and someone there bumped me to community admin. I've deleted the Russian spam and adjusted the community layout to S2.

I've also added the ability for members to create tags. Posting was moderated but no more! Membership, however, is moderated to prevent future spam. I'll likely approve new members within 24 hours of receiving their request to join.

Hopefully this new style is easy to read/navigate. Let me know if you have any issues viewing it!

Now - with all that out of the way, does anyone have any suggestions as to the direction this community should take? Are the rules in the profile sparse? If you have anything you'd like added, please let me know. I'll review it and probably stick it in there.

It pains me to see this community dwindling in activity. DL really doesn't get enough attention these days.

* The body of this entry is slightly modified from the entry I made to dragonlance. I'm not sure how LJ ended up with two communities geared for Dragonlance fans, and I'm not sure if the member-base is the same or not. If you're a member in both places, would you prefer a single community or do you like having both?

I'm a big fan of Dragonlance: The New Adventures. I've only read up to book 4 though. But when I was looking for the rest of the books I noticed that Book 7 Dragon Knight is not available anywhere. And where ever I do find it, it costs like hundreds of dollars! Even though the listed price for the book is like 6 dollars. It's so weird. Does anyone know why it's like that? Or where I can find the book for the normal price?

Thank you very much,
A response would help me so much!

Hello everyone!

I am from Russia and I've read the core books only in translation. Can anyone tell me where can I find free e-books (Time of the Twins, War of the Twins, and Test of the Twins)? I am really desperate to read them in English, but can't afford amazon. :)

Ok, I got the Dragonlance movie.

Yes, it was very fast and there was some cheapness to the animation. But you're talking to a person who grew up on mass produced animation with flaws all over the place. Not that big of a deal to me.

But the main theme was still there, and more powerfully put than the book did. The story is about faith in oneself, your friends, and your god(s). Its a story of becoming part of a bigger picture and thinking of the greater good than just of yourself. Some scenes were cut out but it didn't hinder the story at all. It was well written, well acted (Lucy Lawless DID NOT DO THE XENA YODEL!!! Thank god) and even if some of the art was bad (apparently this Indian company does not know how to draw horses at all) they made some improvements to the character design (Sturm does not have horns on his helm and Caramon did not have the dumb looking dragon helm).

Oh, one more thing.

Raistlin + Kiefer Sutherland = HOT!

I never thought I would be saying that...Kiefer "Majere" might just have a new fan. :)

I'm hoping that they'll do well with the sales and make the next movie. I'm really looking forward for the next installment.

(x-posted to other DL groups I'm in! I want this to do well and get more movies!)

This community has been quiet for a while, so I thought I would inject some life into it :-)

The movie is going straight to dvd, and will be released January 15, 2008 in the USA.

Amazon.com Pre-order

After watching the trailer on youtube I'm rather underwhelmed, but I've still pre-ordered it anyway :P

Greetings! Another Dragonlance fan joining..

I've only read the core books, in addition to The Legend of Huma and Dawning of a New Age. I thouroughly enjoyed everything but the latter. I actually purchased the Dragons of a New Age trilogy, but was so turned off after reading the first book that I decided to give up on the other two. Any recommendations on where to go next?

For those of you who have read Amber and Ashes and Amber and Iron...

What do you think of Mina at the end of Amber and Iron?

I am just trying to get this community going again. It kind of died... I dunno. I am only bored at the moment... Reply if you want... :)

I just received Amber and Ashes and Amber and Iron. I was wondering if they are any good? I plan on finishing them in less than two weeks and I would like to know your opinion.

I've read some of their trilogy and I have to admit my favorite was Time of the Twins, War of the Twins, and Test of the Twins. Raistlin is my favorite character because he is dark and mysterious. He has many flaws like many humans and yet he shows some compassion towards his brother. Just thought I would put in my opinion. :)

Who is your favorite character(s)?
